A Study on the Diuretic Renal Scan with ^(99m)Tc-DTPA in Obstructive Uropathy

Abstract
|
|
|
Diuretic renal scan with 99mTc-DTPA by administration of intravenous furosemide was performed in 29 patients with suspected obstructive uropathy.
One revealed normal response, 21 increased washout pattern, and the remainder 7 no changes in response to the furosemide administration.
IVP was performed in all patients(29 cases), then IVP was compared with diuretic renal scan.
The results were as follows;
1. Patients with normal results by the renal scan, showed normal IVP findings also.
2. 7 patens who showed delayed excretory patterns were not influenced by the diuretics administration. 6 patients revealed obstructive lesion with hydronephrosis and the remainder one without obstruction was diagnosed as chronic pyelonephritis.
3. 21 patients showed positive response to the diuretics. Among them 11 patients had positive results in IVP, but were not related to the speed of decrement of the renal activity after the furosemide administration.
